Articles / Post on Cyber Bullying
Commentary
As I indicated in the previous post, I will be exploring “cyber bullying” in depth for awhile. As you might expect, this will take some time to develop the current legal mechanisms in different states. Additionally, I have prior commitments for the next week which will pull me away from this work. I leave you with some articles and post which I found interesting that should leave you with some thought on the issue:
Note: I do not endorse any statement, position, product or anything else a particular site might be advancing or stating. I provide the following as a way to “spur” your thoughts on the matter. Some sites may be objectionable.

Thanks for the link to my blog.
It makes me angry when pundits say we are blowing fears of Internet threats out of proportion and that cyberbullying isn’t that bad - it teaches you to be tough. That couldn’t be further from the truth, as I am sure you will reveal in your studies.
I think a bigger issue is lack of control on the parental side. Parents are afraid to take control of the house. They are being bullied in their own home right out of power. Until that changes, cyberbullying will persist and get worse.
Parents need to take back control of the house. They can start by monitoring what their kids do online, with Internet monitoring software like our PC Pandora (www.pcpandira.com), and enforcing rules.
If you don’t exhibit the power, you’ll never have it. Talk to your kids, yes, but make sure they know who the parent is. Then, as the parent, teach your kids how to get along in the world and act like a decent person. You don’t have to be a saint, but you can’t be a bully.
