Letter to Client and Opposing Counsel

This will likely be the only thing I say on this topic but I feel it necessary to make some general remarks.  I enjoy blogging and expressing an opinion or looking at other opinions.  As an attorney I meet a lot of different people.  I also represent numerous people in difficult times in their lives.  This site is not devoted to that aspect of my life.

At this point in my career, this is my personal blog and website.  If you came to this site hoping to get a personal “insight” into how I think, I suspect you might get that.

A Note to a Couple of Audiences:

Dear Client:  I am writing this here to put to rest any concerns you may have.  If you have found this site, you might be a concerned our conversations may become public.  THEY WILL NOT.  You have my complete allegiance.   I am ethically bound to represent you to the fullest extent the law allows me to do so but more importantly I truly believe in the scared oath of attorney-client privilege.  I will never post anything regarding your case.  I will not make inferences regarding your case or in any way breach my promise to you regarding our attorney-client privilege.  That privilege is sacred and I will keep it that way.

Dear Opposing Counsel: If you came here thinking you might get an advantage over me in litigation or negotiation in a particular case, you will be disappointed.  I do the same thing you are doing right now.  I look up opposing counsel just to snoop around on the internet to see what they have done in their career and perhaps get a persoanl insight.  That being said, I do not think for one moment that any information I gain from Googling opposing counsel will provide an advantage in a particular matter.  I don’t even think it will provide me an understanding in a particular case.  At most, I feel it makes me a little more acquainted with the attorney before perhaps meeting them.

I take my oath to my profession as an attorney very seriously.  I represent their interest not mine.  Therefore, the position I take on any particular case is not my own position but that of my client’s.
